3d Video Introductions! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered you a list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving requires a different twist. Neither could well be specific to Thanksgiving, nevertheless they relate to some themes from the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving and for any day of the year.

Big oil company propaganda using a heart! Just the free movie we want for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one in the most lyrical American films ever produced. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation inside the United States National Film Registry with the Library of Congress to "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of the Cajun boy and his family, living around the bayous in a way of life that we can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land for the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything much like it was, clean and unspoiled with the exception that the family has a little more money. (Yes, it had been funded through the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends the majority of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating along the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, along with his pet raccoon. He never wears a life preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to call in case he gets having problems. There is not much story, simply a celebration (in such stunning grayscale photography that you can well wonder just what the big deal is about color) of a way of life that's no longer with us.
All in the actors were amateurs, and then for most, it was their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who totally boy, was residing in a FEMA trailer together with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their property. (source). He had a possibility at fame in the movies, but which he stayed where he was from and apparently grew up with an appreciation of family (a marriage of over 50 years) reflects why I consider The Louisiana Story the right free movie first of our most family-friendly holidays.

A monochrome silent film that ends using a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, exactly what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc within this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever produced. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died thinking that the last copy ended up destroyed. In a amount of weirdness that sounds much more a movie compared to truth, a virtually complete print was discovered in 1981 in the janitor's closet of your Norwegian mental institution.
