Apple's new 27-Inch Thunderbolt display is, for the most part, not just a new display. It is quite similar as the older 27" LED Cinema Display, except it now includes Apple's Thunderbolt technology.

Apple's new Thunderbolt display might not offer a lot regarding new display panel technology, but i am not saying it is behind the days or without quality. Besides simply being big, it gives you everything that most users could possibly want. LED backlighting enables more precise lighting control, lower energy use, and black level reproduction. Meanwhile, IPS display technology enables vivid colors and wide viewing angles. And just to provide some extra sprinkes of awesome, the resolution is 2560x1440.
Though Apple has dropped the "Cinema Display" brand from this cool product, it might still apply. This is a monitor that is certainly geared towards the enjoyment of multimedia content like movies, photos or perhaps video games. The use of high-gloss glass as opposed to a matte surface is proof of that. It ends in more glare, but in addition drastically increases contrast. Images appear to have real "pop" , nor suffer from grainy details if viewed closely.

The connections entirely on the Thunderbolt display is smart if you are connecting it to a Mac, however, if you aren't, it will seem rather limited.
The speakers about this display certainly are a 2.1 system which supplies reasonably adequate sound. However, as with single built-in monitor head unit ever made, the insufficient proper sound staging limits enjoyment. Many external speaker options under $100 can provide better audio quality, and you should want to purchase a real solution if you do not almost never tune in to music, watch movies online or play games. Limited connectivity and a not enough ergnomic adjustments are major dings against any monitor priced above $400, nevermind engineered to be just a buck shy of $1000. If you wait for a sale, you might grab a 30-Inch Dell Ultrasharp for the similar dough.

The main reason to purchase this display just isn't because it's the most effective value but instead because you own a Mac already, and you want to stay inside Apple's ecosystem.
